In this column you will see short pieces from myself or other teachers, a few articles, and I hope a number of writings from local pastors. Sometimes I give updates on current school issues. Since there are a few news items, I will refrain from a longer reflection this week.

Geneva Academy has always celebrated Reformation Day, even in the early days when we had just a few families. It was not to find a Christian alternative to Halloween.

October 11th was celebrated at Umpqua Community College yesterday, but not for Christopher Columbus. No, it was “National Coming Out Day,” and our local college had tables set out for people to pick up rainbow cupcakes and stickers. UCC’s Queer Student Alliance had a poster out called, “The Genderbread Person.”
