As a Geneva family, we celebrated the coming of our Savior at last night’s Christmas Soiree. It is delightful to hear the children sing and speak. The Soiree shows us that truth, beauty, and goodness have not fled from our world and that by application of God’s word and by the moving of His Spirit we can experience those very things in our midst…even in the faces and voices of our children.
5th Grade students, Aubry & Skyla, lead the choir in Little Drummer Boy ~ we got a surprise when little Heaven sang with such gusto! Enjoy!
This time of year can be peculiar… it is easy to find silliness and lightheartedness, which has its place, yet also pain for those missing loved ones or shouldering burdens others don’t even know about. “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).
His coming is certainly cause for celebrating. At the same time, He came to broken people in a broken world. Hail the Messiah, the Redeemer and the Great Physician!
O God,Thy main plan, and the end of thy willIs to make Christ gloriousand beloved in heaven where he is now ascended,Where one day all the elect will behold his gloryAnd love and glorify him for ever.Though here I love him but little, may this be my portion at last.In this world thou has given me a beginning,One day it will be perfected in the realm above.Let me study and stand for discipline, and all the ways of worshipOut of love for Christ;And to show my thankfulness;
And daily to care for and keep this state of heart.To seek and know his will from love, to hold it in love,From the prayer “Christ Alone” in The Valley of Vision
Hearty thanks to Church on the Rise for hosting our growing Geneva Family and for livestreaming for our friends and family out of state so they could join us in worship! Our entire service is embedded below ~ have a listen, it will lift your heart. You can view more photos of the event on our Facebook page.
