A New Tradition
This year in the Rhetoric school we are starting a new tradition. Our senior class will receive Geneva Academy pins for their blazer lapels at the conclusion of the first Chapel. The pin shows our coin emblem, with cross, shield and the Latin phrase “Post Tenebras Lux Christi” or “After the Darkness Light of Christ.”
The award signifies that the seniors have reached the final year of their efforts at Geneva, a year of both arduous work and cheerful service. Regarding work, they will be laboring on challenging classes as well as their Capstone projects. The projects are meant to show their reading, their reasoning, their worldview, and their eloquence. At the same time, they will be called upon repeatedly to represent the school as ambassadors, to serve younger students, and to be living examples of a Geneva education. For this reason, and in recognition of their making it thus far (and with the expectation of their completing their academics), and as a mark of distinction, we are awarding the seniors these pins.
